The backside of economic recovery There is a tragic connection between the shape of the economy and the number of traffic accidents.

- The level of traffic safety has rapidly deteriorated this year, reports Maanteeamet, the Estonian Road Administration. Compared to last year, 73% more people have been killed in the traffic so far this year.

- Traffic safety seems to be connected to the economical development in general. As the economy is booming, so is the number of cars on the roads and unfortunately also the number of traffic accidents, said Indrek Madar, CEO at Autosõit and a former traffic police officer, in an interview for SCCE’s magazine focus four years ago.

Indrek Madar’s statement is obviously still valid, and with summer and vacations around the corner, e-focus recommends our readers to apply defensive driving techniques – not only in Estonia, but wherever you go.
