The Estonian Action Plan for 2008-2011The Estonian government is now in the process of creating an Estonian Action
Plan for Growth and Jobs 2008-2011. The government describes the project as
follows:

“The Estonian Action Plan for Growth and Jobs 2008-2011 sets government
goals for speeding up economic growth and creating job positions. The goals
are ambitious and more than 150 specific initiatives have been planned for the
implementation thereof in the field of macroeconomic environment,
competitive business environment and education and labour market.

During the compilation of the plan, new ideas have already been
collected, which could contribute to increasing competitiveness. These ideas
have been submitted for public discussion at the participation web. New ideas
and proposals submitted until 17 August are also welcome on all topics
related to the plan. The economic growth plan can be accessed at http://www.valitsus.ee/brf/index.php?id=294032&tpl=1007&external=&search=&aasta=
The plan will be introduced to the Riigikogu after the public discussions, and submitted to the government for approval in October.”

As Sweden is the major foreign direct investor in Estonia, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Estonia is now looking for a consensus on a consolidated SCCE listing of the most urgent and important decisions and actions that should be implemented by the Estonian government as from our point of view.

We are aiming for a list on 10 bullet points to be worked out within SCCE as well as in cooperation and consensus with FIC - the Foreign Investors’ Council in Estonia (more on FIC below), to be personally handed over to the Estonian government before August 17th.
