Today's Viimsi Peokeskus has a history going more than 500 years back in time and with roots traced to Sweden. Back in 1471, St Bridget's Order converted Viimsi village into a manor in order to secure the monastery‘s food supplies. The Order, also known as the Order of the Holy Saviour or the Brigittines, was founded around 1344 by the Swedish Birgitta Birgersdotter. She was canonized to Saint Birgitta, Saint Bridget (in Swedish: Den Heliga Birgitta) in 1391.

The Viimsi Peokeskus building used to be the St Bridget's Order food store and is believed to have been built during the 1470's. In 1997 a big fire consumed the original building and restoration works began in 2002. The rebuilt structure was ready for use on the 2006 winter solstice.

Viimsi Peokeskus offers their guests several venues in the same medieval building: a restaurant, a party complex, a hotel and a sauna complex.
