image: SCCE welcomes Slowball as a new member SCCE welcomes Slowball as a new member www.slowball.eu  is a fast moving company created for the age of social media and was established on the 12th of July 2013. Being a young company has its opportunities and challenges, but even though the first pilot project and proof of concept is not even 2 month old as a business, we have already succeeded in making a positive message of mixing culture and business.

One aim of Slowball is to bring art out into the daylight by throwing a grand road-trip through Europe. For September 2013 the cities we visit are; Tallinn-Riga-Kaunas-Warsaw-Berlin. For September 2014 it will be; Helsinki-Turku-Stockholm-Karlstad-Oslo and for September 2015 we have tentatively planned our stops to be; Barcelona-Montpellier-Cannes-San Remo-Milan. The participating cars are painted by various artists to demonstrate the nature and ambitions of different art forms. It is also a fun and unusual way to present established or young artists and what they have to offer to the world.

“Art on Wheels” is an important part of Slowball, and also it acts as a media engine. It gives about 10.000 people around in Europe a chance to meet Nordic art and artists in an unusual surrounding, using quite an unusual canvas. This year, as mentioned, the project takes place for the first time, starting on 18th of September with a great art exhibition in Tallinn. Then the race passes through Riga, Kaunas and Warsaw over four days and arrives to Berlin on the 22nd of September, where it all ends with a lively art exhibition.

Older versions of Volkswagens, Saabs, Fords and other car brands become independent objects of art through creativity and recycling and are fun and mystic on-wheels business cards for the artists and partner companies at the same time. The ambassadors of the whole project are Estonian renowned singers Teele Viira, Eva Vaino and competitive dancer Mairold Millert. They will participate in the whole race, starting with the car design and ending up with the cars reaching Berlin.

As the practical part of the project an electronic auction will be held where everybody can bid, regardless of their location or language. Auction will be open until the end of the race and the cars will be handed over to the new owners at the end destination or where the cars decide to stop functioning...
