image: A Musical Soirée with a touch of Magic A Musical Soirée with a touch of Magic

Located by the sea at the Viimsi peninsula, Villa Mary could welcome a full house as SCCE gathered for a Musical Soirée, Thursday evening February 27th. It became indeed a memorable event with a touch of magic.

Ages back, when TV, radio, Spotify and even the phonograph were science-fiction, it happened every now and then that people gathered for soirées. They ate, drank and listened to live music. So did we this evening, and I think that all of us experienced the same magic atmosphere as the people most probably did in the old times.

Welcomed by Mihail Burõhh and his team at Villa Mary, we started our evening together with a welcome drink and a tour in the exclusive Villa.

Meanwhile, Villa Mary’s extremely talented head chef Vladislav Korpusov together with his team in the kitchen made the final preparations for our dinner. We started with a Winter Salad, continued with Forgotten Beef and for the dessert we had the First Snow in the Villa, all accompanied with a splendid selection of fine wines.

Coffee and Armagnac were served, and then Jean-Philippe Rio-Py took his seat at the Grand Piano. It was a beautiful concert and the feeling of a magic evening was by now a feeling shared by everyone being present.

On behalf of the SCCE Council, I would like to thank Mihail Burõhh, Vladislav Korpusov and their colleagues at Villa Mary for a truly great evening. My thanks also go to Jean-Philippe Rio-Py for an outstanding concert, and to Andreas Sunborn at SCCE’s member Edurus who exclusively organized this first ever concert in Estonia by Jean-Philippe.

My colleague Kaire Papp put it very well as she quoted Friedrich Nietzsche when thanking Jean-Philippe for his performance: “Life without music would be a mistake.”

Sincerely,

Kristiina Sikk
