image: The 2011 edition of SCCE’s Summer Party The 2011 edition of SCCE’s Summer Party
- There was a time in this country when you were supposed to sing songs like this, said Anu Hedman as an introduction to her singing contribution to the SCCE Song Contest at this year's Summer Party. Anu sang ‘Lenin' with such a vivid realization that the jury didn't have any difficulties at all to name her the winner of this first ever SCCE Song Contest (more about this further down).

Following the traditions of SCCE's Summer Parties, Jaroslav Voitsehovski, Head Chef at Schlössle Hotel's Stenhus Restaurant, had put up a summer buffet including Swedish specialties like marinated herring, meatballs and fattiga riddare (penniless knights). Mats Wojidkow, Head Chef at Restaurant Pärl, supported the buffet further with a big plate of real Swedish Matjessill. Mats and Jaroslav have cooperated before, and the outcome of their work is covered in an article in the latest issue of focus - the magazine of the SCCE.

The theme for this year's Summer Party was singing and as usual SCCE's members gave their full hearted support to the concept. Choirs were spontaneously formed and were mixed with individual performances. The repertoire came to cover practically everything from Carl Michael Bellman, via Lili Marleen, hits of the 1960's, to nubbe/drinking songs from both Estonia and Sweden.

Anu Hedman's first prize was an evening of Gastronomy at Stenhus Restaurant for herself and lucky friends of her choice. The second prize, a Tallink cruise to Stockholm, went to Keiu and Diana from Primus in Tartu for their interpretation of ‘Tartu marss'. Mats Wojidkow, who most probably is the only publicly singing Head Chef in Estonia, took the third prize, Gucci fragrances from Sirowa, with ‘Lilla Idas Sommarvisa' (Little Ida's Summer Song). And, for his unforgettable interpretation of Björn Skifs' old hit ‘Hooked on a feeling', Lars-Olof Bolinder, CEO at Air Maintenance Estonia, will get a well deserved massage at Hotel Telegraaf's Elemis SPA.

I would like to thank Schlössle Hotel, Kruger'i Veinipood, Tallink, Pernod Ricard Estonia, Restaurant Pärl, Sirowa and Elemis SPA for their support to our Summer Party. And again, my thanks go to all fantastic members of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Estonia who once again made a SCCE party take off and reach the skies!
