image: Fourth and First! Fourth and First!

Saturday afternoon, May 26th, Sweden took the fourth place in the third consecutive edition of the Chambers’ of Commerce in Estonia International Football Tournament, this year played at Tallinn’s Kadrioru Staadion.

And later on in the evening and far away in Baku, Loreen won a landslide victory for Sweden with the song ‘Euphoria’ in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest!

Just like they have done in the two previous football tournaments, the British-Estonian Chamber of Commerce took the gold.

The silver went to the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce this year, and AmCham took the bronze.

- Once again, the Brits came with a very strong team and they are indeed a worthy winner, said the Swedish team captain Pelle Lindberg.

- We had an excellent teamwork and as captain I’m very proud over our players’ spirit and attitude. In fact, losing only one game shows something about the character of the Swedish team. One more win would have made it possible to reach the final. The games were just like the two previous tournaments, a great experience and we will be back for revenge next year!, continued Pelle.

This year’s tournament plan meant that every team met each other on the road to the Grande Finale. From a spectator’s point of view, I must say that this really fuelled up the excitement. It became an afternoon filled with entertaining and high tempo as all eight participating Chambers of Commerce in Estonia (American, British, Danish, Estonian JCI, Finnish, German-Baltic, Spanish and Swedish), played on two adjacent fields from 12.00 until late afternoon.

SCCE thanks all sponsors including our two members Sampo Pank, who powered the games as main sponsor, and Rimi Baltic, who took an active part as tournament sponsor.

We look forward to a continuation of the Chambers’ of Commerce International Football Tournament next year, and on behalf of the SCCE I congratulate the British-Estonian Chamber of Commerce to their third consecutive victory.

Reporting from Kadrioru Staadion,

Kristiina Sikk
