Thursday January 9th, the Swedish and Finnish Chambers of Commerce in Estonia joined forces at Tallinn’s Jazz Club Clazz and kicked-off the new Business Season 2014 with Tango, Tapas and Trapiche!
Our very nice and cozy evening together had a touch of Argentina this year; Karmen Ong and Zigmunds Lipins gave us an introduction to the art of dancing Argentinian Tango, Clazz provided Argentinian Tapas, and Altia presented a wide variety of Argentinian wines, including the well known Trapiche.
This was the third consecutive year members of the Swedish and Finnish Chambers of Commerce started up a new year’s business season together and this is not a coincidence.
Through the years, Sweden and Finland have achieved strong positions in commerce, trade and investments on the Estonian market. According to the latest available statistics from Eesti Pank, our two countries represent nearly half of all foreign direct investments in Estonia (Sweden’s share is 26,8% and Finland’s 21,9%). And, almost 1/3 of all Estonian exports of goods go to the Swedish and Finnish marketplaces (Sweden 16,3% and Finland 15,4%).
On behalf of the SCCE Council I would like to thank Karmen Ong and Zigmunds Lipins, Clazz, and Altia for a very nice evening. My thanks also go to Kelli Püss and the Finnish Chamber of Commerce for a good cooperation in arranging our joint start up kick-off. And last but not least, my thanks also go to all our members for creating a fantastic kick off spirit throughout the evening.
Sincerely,
Kristiina Sikk
