image: The Team is the Star The Team is the Star

Welcomed by Ambassador Anders Ljunggren, the Tuesday April 22 focus Round Table Meeting gathered in the Residence at the Swedish Embassy in Tallinn. This time, we discussed the management and team member qualities needed to create a competitive and winning team.

SCCE’s Chairman Karolina Ullman commenced the Meeting by introducing our two Swedish discussion partners this evening; Magnus Pehrsson – the Estonian National Football Team’s Head Coach, and Anders Torell – RIMI Eesti’s Country Managing Director.

- In the world of professional football, a well functioning teamwork is not limited to just the football team itself, said Magnus Pehrsson.

- In addition to the players, there are quite a lot of stakeholders involved; team owners, board members, sponsors, agents, advisors, and fans - just to mention some of them. It’s quite obvious that it takes a collective effort among all these to become capable of delivering top results.

- For me as the head coach, I expect that each and every player demonstrates commitment, determination and a capability to work hard. At the same time, I also emphasize that The Team is the Star, concluded Magnus.

- Just like Magnus I also have a background in sports but as you know I continued my career in a different direction. However, being the country manager for RIMI Eesti is basically all about coaching, said Anders Torell.

- Within RIMI Eesti we work with the same leadership model as ICA, our Swedish owner. It emphasizes teamwork as a crucial part of leadership and also underlines that To Lead means that you create the conditions for the organisation to succeed.

- It’s a straight forward model and as such it goes very well along with our three basic values in RIMI Eesti; simplicity, entrepreneurship and commitment, concluded Anders.

A full report on the Round Table Meeting will follow in the next issue of SCCE’s magazine focus.

On behalf of the SCCE Council, I would like to thank Magnus and Anders for their inspiring and dedicated participation in our meeting. My thanks also go to Ambassador Anders Ljunggren and his team at the Swedish Embassy for their warm hospitality and the delicious buffet. And, last but not least, a big thank you to all participants, and Karolina Ullman who commenced the meeting and moderated the Q&A session.
