On one hand, SCCE managed to make 29 goals totally, while our opponent teams just managed to place the ball behind our goalie and team captain Pelle Lindberg 11 times in the Saturday, May 24th International Chambers’ of Commerce Football Tournament. On the other hand, this wasn’t enough for SCCE to get a place on the prize podium.
SCCE went to semi-finals, met AmCham and lost. The competition for the 3rd and 4th places was settled by penalties, and SCCE lost the third place to the German-Baltic Chamber.
We congratulate the British- Estonian Chamber, AmCham, and the German-Baltic Chambers to their first, second and third places. And, big congratulations to our own team as well! They made a great job at Tallinn’s Maarjamäe Stadium this extremely hot Saturday.
Throughout the day, RIMI provided all players with Power Snacks and Power Drinks to keep all of them fit for fight and this is how the tournament developed: SCCE – The Finnish-Estonian Chamber 6 – 1; SCCE – the German-Baltic Chamber 5 – 0; SCCE – Holland Business Club 8 – 0; SCCE – AmCham 2 – 2; SCCE – the Estonian Junior Chamber 6 – 0; SCCE – the British-Estonian Chamber 0 – 5; and, SCCE – the Danish-Estonian Chamber 2 – 1. In the semi-finals, SCCE lost to AmCham with 0 – 2, and since we lost the penalties’ settlement to the German-Baltic Chamber, SCCE ended up on 4th place.
Again, SCCE had a very cosmopolitan team with players from our member companies Air Maintenance Estonia, DHL, Ericsson, RIMI, and Stoneridge Electronics: Pelle Lindberg (goalie and team captain), Eduardo Boscarolo (11) Richard Cronsell (14), Jimmy Dewerdt (12), Allan Illipe (9), Aleksandr Knjazetski (13), Tarmo Künnapuu (6), Valentin Naumov (4), Aleksandr Shestakov (5), Anders Torell (7), and Oleg Vladimirov (3)
“I get no less than five languages among our players. This is how I want it to be because I believe this represents international business in Estonia in a very good way and the SCCE is after all an international chamber. Even though we can say we are international players, we still play under the Swedish flag and its colors. But we will only perform well if we play as a team where we use all the advantages we have with our different backgrounds”, wrote our team captain Pelle Lindberg to our players a couple of days before the tournament.
On behalf of the SCCE Council, I congratulate BECC to the gold, AmCham to the silver, and the German-Baltic Chamber to the bronze. And our congratulations go of course also to our own SCCE fighting spirited team and our fourth place in this year’s tournament.
Sincerely,
Kristiina Sikk
SCCE Ombudsman
