Urban Ahlin, Riksdagens Talman (the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament), visited Tallinn 20-21 January, invited by his Estonian colleague Eiki Nestor, the Speaker of Riigikogu.
Urban Ahlin had a tight program during his visit which also included a breakfast meeting, hosted by Ambassador Anders Ljunggren in the Residence at the Swedish Embassy in Tallinn, with members of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Estonia.
"It was truly an interesting morning and I found Urban Ahlin to be a very personal and outspoken person at the same time as he upheld his duty of being neutral that comes hand-in-hand with representing the Swedish Riksdag. We hope that he will be back soon for more interesting discussions," said SCCE's Chairman Karolina Ullman following the breakfast meeting.
Urban Ahlin had meetings with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas. And of course the program also included a visit to Riigikogu for meetings with his colleague Eiki Nestor as well as several members of the Estonian Parliament. Among them the Chairman of the Estonia-Sweden Parliamentary Group of the Riigikogu, Valdo Randpere.
Urban Ahlin also visited the Swedish St. Michael's Church in Tallinn for a meeting and a cup of coffee with pastor Patrik Göransson and representatives of the Estonian-Swedish community in Estonia.
A report on Urban Ahlin's visit will follow in SCCE's magazine focus nr 1/2015.
On behalf of the members and the Supervisory Board of the SCCE, I would like to thank Ambassador Anders Ljunggren for giving us the opportunity to meet with Urban Ahlin. My thanks also go to Katrin Valdek at the Swedish Embassy for an excellent cooperation in coordinating the breakfast meeting.
Sincerely,
Kristiina Sikk
