"Estonia's long term GDP growth has benefitted from substantial FDI inflow. In terms of FDI per capita, Estonia is one of the leading countries in Central and Eastern Europe, said Prime Minister Taaivi Rõivas as he adressed members of the foreign Chambers of Commerce on Thursday, 10 September.
The annual early autumn meeting with Estonia's Prime Minister has become a tradition and this was actually the 10th time we gathered for the meeting with the PM.
"The world economy is still experiencing a sluggish recovery from the global financial crisis. Major concerns right now include of course the minor growth in the eurozone, the still unstable Greek market, and the slowdown of the Chinese economy," continued Taavi Rõivas.
"However, as I said earlier, Estonia benefits from a substantial FDI inflow. And, as for ease of doing business in our country, Estonia recently ranked 17th among 189 countries around the world. And, among the Central and Eastern European countries, Estonia had the highest ranking," concluded Taavi Rõivas.
A Q&A session followed the PM's presentation and it became a very lively discussion with migration, solidarity, taxes, FDI and high energy costs being on top of the agenda.
On behalf of the SCCE, I would like to thank Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas for his presentation and his active participation in the concluding discussion. My thanks also go to AmCham for once again taking the initiative to and being the main organizer of this truly international meeting with the Prime Minister.
