For the second consecutive year, SCCE and the other Nordic Chambers of Commerce in Estonia gathered at Nordic Hotel Forum for an evening with Pöff - Pimedate Ööde Filmifestival, the Black Nights Film Festival.
- Pöff was launched in 1997, and at that time we could screen 25 full length films to 4.500 cinema visitors. From the first years' focus on Nordic films, the festival has grown considerably and today we reach out beyond the Nordic-Baltic region to discover films from all over the world. Last year, we had more than 77.500 admissions and could show 662 films, said Pöff's director Tiina Lokk-Tramberg at our mingle, preceding this evening's Pöff screening of the Norwegian film Staying alive.
Ivo Felt, the producer of the Estonian-Georgian film Mandariinid (Tangerines), also took part in our mingle and could tell us that the film has become a total international success.
- By now, Tangerines has won eleven major international awards and has been nominated for another seven awards, among them an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year, said Ivo Felt.
Pöff has a comprehensive cooperation with major companies in Estonia and SCCE's members Nordea Bank (main sponsor) and Nordic Hotel Forum (presenter) are among the festival's biggest corporate supporters.
As for this year's edition of Pöff, the Swedish Embassy in Tallinn has made a list of participating Swedish films available at www.sweden.ee and the full program of Pöff 2015 is available at http://2015.poff.ee
On behalf of the SCCE, I would like to thank Pöff and Nordic Hotel Forum for a very nice evening including an unforgettable and delicious snack buffet. My warm thanks also go to Kelli Püss at FECC, who was our main organizer of the event this year.
Sincerely,
Kristiina Sikk
