Saturday 7 May, offered no exception in terms of the weather; sunny and warm all day long - a circumstance being perfect for celebrating the Europe Day. The Swedish Embassy in Tallinn’s Old Town had open doors and could welcome 2.300 persons during the day, a record number of visitors!
In cooperation with Telia and Ericsson, the Embassy went digital this year. The visitors could explore how future mobile technology will affect our everyday lives, including traveling to the digitial world through Virtual Reality glasses.
Additionally, a booth for taking photos in a Swedish environment was available, as well as Swedish snacks, blåbärssoppa (blueberry soup) and information on Sweden and Swedish food and traditions.
The IT-portal Digitark (Digismart) made live reports and interviews from the Embassy’s courtyard, all available on this link digitark.ee.
The Europe Day has developed to a very nice annual event in Tallinn. Embassies have their doors open, the popular orienteering passport game goes on throughout the day, and at Vabaduse Väljak (the Freedom Square) concerts and exhibitions take place.
On behalf of the SCCE, I congratulate the Swedish Embassy, Telia and Ericsson to a very successful and highly appreciated event day!
Sincerely,
Kristiina Sikk
