image: The Golf Tournament of the Year The Golf Tournament of the Year

Apart from some strong winds, the weather was perfect as members of SCCE and SCCL (the Swedish Chambers of Commerce in Estonia and Latvia) gathered for the Golf Tournament of the Year at Pärnu Bay Golf Links, Saturday 4 June.

Beautifully located just where the forest meets the sea, Pärnu Bay Golf Links is the first such course in the Baltic region, and it is a links course in the true sense of the word; it’s a true test of a golfer's ability!

Welcomed by Pärnu Bay Golf Link’s caddie master, and Rein Leipalu, member of SCCE’s Council, and Thomas Hellström, SCCL’s chairman, the Tournament took off.

SCCL’s member Raivo Pede, Primum Financial Management, became this year’s winner, and SCCE’s members Margus Amor, Rimi Eesti, and Vello Enniste, Seve Ehitus, came in on the second and third place. Margus Amor also got the prize for the longest drive during the Tournament. The winners got a Trophy provided by DHL, and a bottle of Prosecco Superior from Krugeri Veinipood.

As for the competition between our two Chambers, SCCL won with 71 Stableford points made by their two best players, and SCCE ended up with 68 points. Our two lady golfers this year, both from SCCE, Marit Antik, Talentor, and Marina Kruger, Krugeri Veinipood, got gift cards for two for a session at Hedon's Silent Spa in Pärnu.

We also had a program for our non-golfers including an introduction to golf and a visit to Hedon Spa & Hotel. The Hedon visit was indeed inspiring for re-visits and as for the golf introduction, I believe I can say that all of us non-golfers agreed that there is some truth behind the saying that the golf swing is one of the most complex movements a human being can do!

On behalf of the SCCE, I would like to thank all the Tournament Supporters: DHL, Rimi, Krugeri Veinipood, Hedon Spa & Hotel, and last but not least the Pärnu Bay Golf Links team! My thanks also go to SCCL for a good cooperation in arranging the Tournament, and to all golfers and non-golfers for a very nice Golf Saturday together in Pärnu.
