- This is the 20th edition of PÖFF, Pimedate Ööde Filmifestival – the Black Nights Film Festival, and I am happy to see so many of you here tonight, said PÖFF’s Festival Director Tiina Lokk-Tramberg as she welcomed members of SCCE and the other Nordic Chambers of Commerce in Estonia to the Wednesday 16 November start-up of the annual Nordic PÖFF Night at Nordic Hotel Forum.
- PÖFF was launched in 1997 and screened 25 full length films at the first festival to 4.500 cinema visitors. Last year we had more than 80.000 admissions and this year our programme include 200 films from all over the world, told Tiina Lokk-Tramberg.
Following our opening mingle, where Nordic Hotel Forum served a delicious buffet and Nordic Spirits Lab offered a gin and tonic drink based on their gin with a Nordic twist of Akvavit botanicals, it was time for this evening’s film at Forum Cinemas; ’Welcome to Norway’, by Cinema Scandinavia named the best comedy that Norway has ever produced.
PÖFF has a comprehensive cooperation with major companies in Estonia and SCCE's members Nordea (main sponsor) and Nordic Hotel Forum (main supporter) are among the festival's biggest corporate supporters.
As for this year's edition of PÖFF, the full program is available at 2016.poff.ee.
On behalf of the SCCE, I would like to thank PÖFF and Nordic Hotel Forum for a very nice and cozy evening, and my thanks also go to Ave-Mai Aedna at FECC who was our main organizer of the event this year.
Sincerely,
Kristiina Sikk
