image: Doing Business with Sweden Doing Business with Sweden

Sweden is Estonia’s biggest export market since quite a number of years by now. And, at the 16 March Business Seminar ‘Doing Business with Sweden’, it became obvious that the Estonian interest for the Swedish marketplace is increasing even more.

Taking a look at the latest figures on Swedish professions with the largest job vacancies, gives a hint on where to find the biggest business opportunities. On top of the current Swedish list are (figures in brackets represent the year-on-year job vacancies increase): Building Construction (+64,5%); Energy and Environment (+29,4%); Service Workshops for Motor Vehicles (+28,5%); Manufacturing (+24,2%); and Finance, Insurance and Real Estate (+21,8%).

The key to success on the Swedish marketplace is to build up trust and long term relations. This requires that the homework is done including getting to know the market in terms of potential customers and competition, and to have a professional sales kit ready for use.

Continuous communication and presence on the web is important. 71% of Swedish B2B purchases start with a web search, and 55 % of the Swedish business decision-makers participate in web-based social networks.

In this context it is worth to note that eCommerce sales are increasing. The total eCommerce market value among the Nordic countries in 2016 was estimated to be 218,6 billion SEK, with Sweden being the biggest market with a 84,8 billion SEK (38,8%) share.

On behalf of the SCCE, I would like to thank all our speakers from Ace Logistics, Rein Malm Consulting & Partners, Dachser Sweden and Red Machine OÜ for their very interesting and insightful presentations at our afternoon Business Seminar.
