image: SCCE went to Saaremaa and Viirelaid SCCE went to Saaremaa and Viirelaid

Following a get-together lunch at GO Spa in Kuressaare, SCCE took off for an intensive Thursday 18 May afternoon and evening on Saaremaa and Viirelaid.

Our first company visit went to InCap Electronics in Kuressaare. InCap’s Managing Director Estonia Otto Pukk and his team gave us a presentation and a tour of the company’s business as an effective and streamlined Electronic Manufacturing Services provider.

- Our business has grown considerably and last year we doubled both our turnover as well as the number of employees here in Kuressaare, said Otto Pukk.

We continued our Saaremaa road trip north for a visit to Karja Pagar (Bakery) and Öun Drinks in Karja village, some 35 km north of Kuressaare.

- It all started in 1993 with two bakers, a sales person and an accountant. Consequently we celebrate our 24th anniversary this year and things have indeed developed during the years. However, we still bake according to and inspired by good old island baking traditions, said Aivo Kanemägi, Manager at Karja Pagar.

- We are a very young company as the story of Öun Drinks started in 2015 with four people, including myself, having a passion for making delicious sparkling drinks and cider from home-grown apples, said Juhan Kanemägi, Öun’s Production manager.

Back in Kuivastu on Muhu Island it was time for a short and very refreshing sea trip in a rib boat to Viirelaid.

- Located just southeast of Muhu, Viirelaid’s lighthouse still functions as an important landmark for ships entering the Viire Kurk Straight. Today, the Viirelaid islet is also a unique venue for business and private events, said Priit Villemson, Manager at Viirelaid OÜ.

A report from our visit to Saaremaa and Viirelaid will be published in the summer issue of SCCE’s magazine focus.

On behalf of the SCCE I would like to thank InCap, Karja Pagar, Öun Drinks and Viirelaid OÜ for their very interesting company presentations and tours. My thanks also go to all participants from Embassy of Sweden, InCap, Karja Pagar, mcm oü, Oriflame, Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, Stoneridge Electronics, and Viirelaid OÜ for their high spirit which made this tour an unforgettable event!
