There seem to be few, if any, limits in terms of practical applications where AI, Artificial Intelligence, can play a vital role. This is the summarizing conclusion we came to as SCCE met for a Thursday, 20th February, AI afternoon seminar, arranged in cooperation with Telia and the University of Tartu.
We met, listened to and discussed with an impressive lineup of speakers, as we sat down in one of the meeting rooms at Telia Eesti’s exciting and innovative office in Tallinn.
Professor Gholamreza Anbarjafari, commonly known as Shahab, from the AI Research Lab at the University of Tartu, focused on computer vision and machine learning in his presentation.
Kalev Koppel, CEO at STACC, the Software Technology and Applications Competence Center, with the University of Tartu among the founders, discussed challenging issues and options available when starting with machine learning.
Erki Pogoretski, Head of Customer and Business Analytics at Telia Eesti, highlighted the issues of driving on the AI road from Telia’s perspective as a data driven company.
The Q&A session following Shahab’s, Kalev’s and Erki’s presentations, became indeed very lively and we could most probably have continued the discussions until late night this Thursday afternoon.
On behalf of the SCCE, I would like to thank Shahab, Kalev and Erki for their very interesting presentations. My thanks also go to all participants for making the Q&A session and the AI discussions really take off!
Sincerely,
Kristiina Brodén - SCCE Ombudsman
