image: SCCE’s First Six Months 2020 SCCE’s First Six Months 2020

2020 came knocking on the door with SCCE’s first event; "NOK, NOK, Who's There?" We gathered at restaurant NOK NOK and got introduced to the Thai food culture and got the opportunity to cook a Thai dish ourselves:

January also featured SCCE’s New Year’s Business Season Kick Off. Headlined „As Time Goes By“, Team Sweden - the Embassy of Sweden, Business Sweden and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Estonia, gathered in Ambassador Mikael Eriksson’s Residence and went back to the times of the Singing Revolution and Estonia’s restored Independence, a period that also formed the basis for the ongoing successful Swedish-Estonian cooperation:

With the Business Season duly Kicked Off, we met for a February morning Business Seminar on Amendments in the Estonian and Baltic Tax regulations, arranged in cooperation with SCCE’s new member Grant Thornton Baltic:

And, towards the end of February, SCCE arranged an After Business Hours Workshop on AI - Artificial Intelligence in cooperation with Telia, the University of Tartu and STACC -
Software Technology and Applications Competence Center:

Before the Coronavirus put a stop for us to meet in person, we met with the leader of the Reform Party, Kaja Kallas, at an event organized by FICE – the Foreign Investor's Council in Estonia. We also met with Andrus Soodla, former manager in Danske Bank Estonia, at an event headlined "Humans and Managers behind the story", where Andrus shared his experiences on managing a team of people in a time of crisis. Furthermore, SCANWORKING was introduced, bringing together the Swedish, Danish and Norwegian Chambers of Commerce in Estonia for a relaxed After Business Hours get-together the first Thursdays in February and March.

On 12 March, the Estonian Government declared an Emergency Situation following the pandemic development of the Coronavirus. Thus, SCCE’s General Assembly 2020 was performed via e-mail ( and we went from Business Seminars to Business Webinars.

Among all webinars arranged, several of them in cooperation with Swedish Chambers International and the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, I would like to highlight the webinar on the Baltic Macroeconomics arranged in cooperation with SEB, the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and the Swedish Chambers of Commerce in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania:

Finally, in June the restrictions on personal meetings were eased a bit and SCCE celebrated it with our Annual Tennis Tournament:

The June edition of SCANWORKING wrapped up our first six months this very special year. We now look forward to seeing you at our traditional Autumn Business Season Kick Off: Kräftskivan/The Crayfish Party:

Until then, I wish you all a very nice and healthy summer and look forward to seeing you at the Crayfish Party.
