Weathering the storm Weathering the storm

Moderated by Morten Hansen - Head of the Economics Department at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, Mihkel Nestor - Chief Economist at SEB Estonia, Dainis Gašpuitis - Economist at SEB Latvia and Tadas Povilauskas - Economist at SEB Lithuania, gave us a Thursday 28 May macro economic webinar focusing on the three Baltic States.

- The Coronavirus went from a healthcare crisis to a global economic crisis in no time. However, the recent years have been good for the Baltics in terms of GDP growth and few imbalances were to be found in our three countries macroeconomies as the crisis began, agreed Mihkel, Dainis, Todas and Morten.

- Main restrictions and economic support packages countermeasuring Covid-19 are pretty similar in all three Baltic countries.

- However, one thing is certain; there are a wide range of uncertainties ahead, concluded the webinar, arranged in cooperation with SEB, the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, and the Swedish Chambers of Commerce in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

SCCE members can order the presentation from the Ombudsman

On behalf of the SCCE, I would like to thank Morten, Mihkel, Dainis and Todas for a very interesting webinar. My thanks also go to my colleagues at the Swedish Chambers of Commerce in Latvia and Lithuania for a very good cooperation in arranging the webinar.
