SCCE visited Volvo Trucks SCCE visited Volvo Trucks

- Volvo Trucks is part of Volvo Group, headquartered in Gothenburg. We employ about 100 000 people worldwide, have production facilities in 18 countries and sell our products in more than 190 markets, said Maria Karlström, Managing Director of Volvo Trucks Estonia, as SCCE visited Tuesday afternoon 12 April.

- Our core values Quality, Safety and Environmental Care, have been with us for many, many years and our biggest challenge is to meet the increasing demand for transports, and at the same time reduce emissions and the number of accidents involving truck traffic, continued Maria Karlström.

- Environmental care has been one of our core values since 1972 and we were very early to state that we are part of the problem - but also part of the solution! Today, it is our absolute top priority to reduce emissions from our trucks, and from our own operations. We are determined to support our customers on their journey towards fossil free transports.

- We see electrification as the main solution to reaching fossil free transport. Battery electric trucks will cover most transport needs around the world, and we believe that fuel cell electric trucks will be a complement for longer and more demanding transports. Battery electric trucks are available already today and Volvo Trucks is leading the market in Europe, North America and Australia. Our goal is that 50% of all trucks we sell globally will be electric by 2030.

 - Renewable fuels, such as liquid biogas, HVO – Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil and hydrogen, also play an important role on the journey towards zero emissions and we offer gas powered trucks in many markets. When run on biogas and HVO, CO2  emissions can be cut by 100 %, and when run on LNG - Liquid Natural Gas, CO2 can be reduced with up to 20%.

- Premium products require premium services and Volvo Trucks offers a broad range of services, all depending on the customer´s business and particular needs, concluded Maria Karlström and invited to a tour in the workshop guided by the Workshop Manager Rein Suigusaar.

SCCE’s afternoon visit ended with an opportunity to test drive a Volvo Truck, supervised by Driver Trainer Koit Kolganurm.

On behalf of all SCCE participants, I would like to thank Maria Karlström and her team for a very interesting company visit and photos from our visit are available at:
