June 6 – Sweden’s National Day June 6 – Sweden’s National Day
SCCE congratulates Sweden and all Swedes at home and abroad on the National Day.
 
The tradition of celebrating this date began in 1916, honoring the election of Gustav Vasa as King of Sweden on 6 June 1523, a date considered to be the foundation of modern Sweden. Prior to 1983, June 6 was celebrated as the Swedish Flag Day.
