On the Impact Day Festival Friday 7 October, the winner of SEB Ajujah Future Company Special Award was announced and the winner if Naturist.
The company produces pellets made from organic hemp and peas, which turn into mincemeat-like superfoods with 2 times more protein than animal meat when they come into contact with water and a pan. The company's goal with this product is to make fast food an accessible superfood, while boosting the environment, sequestering carbon dioxide and conserving clean water.
- Naturist is made up of bold, ambitious and creative entrepreneurs who are committed to reducing the environmental footprint associated with meat production. In addition, they are able to measure the environmental impact of their activities very clearly, which is an important factor in attracting investors for further growth. They have said that their alternative product CRUMP uses nearly 400 times less water and its carbon footprint is 24 times smaller than that of meat production, says Andra Altoa, Head of Strategy at SEB Baltics.
One of the biggest challenges in today's food industry is keeping up with the demand for plant-based foods, especially proteins. The issue concerns millions who are reducing or giving up animal protein, for both health and moral reasons. Since the human body needs protein every day for healthy functioning, Naturist’s business idea and solution focuses on meeting this need.
