On Wednesday afternoon, 24 May SCCE made a very interesting company visit to Ericsson in Tallinn.
Here are some key facts we learned:
- 2300 employees in Tallinn; globally 105 500 employees
- Customers in more than 180 countries
- 140+ live 5G networks
- Supply Site Tallinn ¼ of the factories globally (US; China, Brazil)
- Half of Ericsson’s New Product Industrializations are made in Tallinn – that means the latest 4G and 5G products are developed and tested and produced here. To reach that, over 450 prototypes are made in one month! Production is running in 4 shifts, 24/7.
- Even though being an innovation and industrialization site without huge volumes, Ericsson makes up 3% of Estonia’s export.
- Ericsson is driving action on the sustainability pathway to a Net Zero value chain by 2040. Read about our activities locally (Estonian language)
- As of May 2023 the factory is connected to a Private 5G network, which is the first private enterprise network in the Baltics
- Today in Tallinn: 25% are engineers/developers and R&D roles and unique competencies, 25% other technical competencies and support functions, 50% are working in production
- Strong focus is on diversity and inclusion: Over 65 nationalities; 48% are female, 52% male. On every unit level Ericsson has set diversity targets (age and gender). Also, for 2023 Ericsson set a goal of having 50% of female interns (previously it has been 30%).
